Expert Reveals What Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Don’t Have Anymore That Puts Them in a ‘Very Sorry Mess’ With the Royal Family

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from their royal roles in 2020, no one thought things between the Sussexes and the prince’s relatives would get this bad. But that all changed when the duke and duchess started taking shots at the royals from afar and airing out the family’s dirty laundry in interviews, a docuseries, and Harry’s memoir.

Given all that has happened, some royal watchers are still holding out hope that one day they can all come together and move toward a reconciliation. However, a commentator doesn’t think that’s ever going to happen because the Sussexes no longer have the one thing that is so important to the royal family.

Royal correspondent Sarah Hewson spoke to The Sun about the state of Harry and Meghan’s relationship with the royal family now and claimed it’s a “very sorry mess” because of one “fundamental issue” and that is trust.

“Frankly it’s a mess, and it’s a very sorry mess,” she said, adding, “It’s sad. Mistakes have been made along the way on both sides. But as long as there’s no trust, that’s the fundamental issue here, that those conversations they have are going to end up on a breakfast show or a documentary or on the pages of a book. Those conversations just can’t happen.”

Hewson also doesn’t think things between the Sussexes and Waleses, in particular, will get better while the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton) continues her recovery. I don’t see any signs of any thawing there, and it’s really not a priority for the Waleses now.

“One of the things they really want to focus on it to keep things calm, keep stress levels down during the Princess of Wales’ recuperation. I really don’t think a reunion with Harry and Meghan is going to do that for her stress levels.”

Someone who used to work in the royal household agrees that any trust with the Sussexes is completely gone.

For years, Paul Burrell served as Queen Elizabeth II‘s personal footman. In 1987, he moved to the household of then-Prince Charles and Princess Diana. When they separated, Burrell served as Diana’s butler and looked after her and her sons until the princess’s tragic death.

He told Closer Magazine: “William knows that Harry can’t be trusted and doesn’t want any more upset in his family. William won’t take any more cheap shots from across the Atlantic. He doesn’t care anymore. He doesn’t listen to the noise in the background — and that’s what Harry and Meghan have become.”

And one of the Prince of Wales’ friends previously told the Daily Beast that “William has not forgiven the Duke of Sussex as he feels utterly betrayed … He hates him for what he has done to the family in the books and interviews … It’s no secret William would prefer it if Harry never stepped foot in England again.”

Royal watchers can’t stop talking about Prince Harry‘s speech at the 2024 ESPYs. The Duke of Sussex was honored with the Pat Tillman Award for Service, a decision that was met with backlash from many including Tilman’s mother.

Despite that and a petition to ESPN, which had over 75,000 signatures, urging the sports giant to give the award to someone “more deserving,” Harry collected the hardware for his work with the Invictus Games and delivered a five-minute speech while doing so.

Here’s what a body language expert noticed during the duke’s speech and what a commentator said about Harry having to “hustle” and “pay people a lot of money” to rack up his awards.

On her YouTube channel Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered, the royal commentator and podcast host talked about how Harry “has to hustle” these days and “pay people” to give him a boost, which is something he’s never had to do before.

Schofield said: “Prince Harry went almost 40 years of his life having everything done for him. Now, he’s having to hustle and I don’t think that he enjoys that. I don’t think he enjoys going to bed at night worrying about if Netflix is going to give them a renegotiated contract. I just don’t think that’s something he’s comfortable with when you grow up in such a life of privilege.

“Let’s be honest, he’s paying a PR team a lot of money to reach out to people like ESPN and the Aviation Awards, and to make these contacts with John Travolta so John Travolta can put in a good word for him. They’re [Sussexes] paying people to make these introductions and to get them on their radar.”

Expert says Harry ‘processed his emotions’ with expressions of ‘sadness’ during speech

Whether or not the prince was the most “deserving” choice for the award or if he “used his platform” to get it, an expert observed Harry displaying “inner pride” and “honor” as he delivered his speech.

Body language and behavioral expert Darren Stanton spoke on behalf of Betfair Roulette, explaining: “Prince Harry’s body language was very strong when he accepted the award. He displayed a sense of honor and inner pride. When he was speaking about the Invictus Games, it was clear it was very close to his heart. When we look at his body language more specifically, both his feet were planted on the floor and barely moved. This is a clear sign of Harry feeling in control without an ounce of nervousness … Harry spoke with clarity, confidence, and passion – revealing he felt every word he came out with.

“When Harry paid a tribute to his mother, you can tell he was processing his emotions. He flashed expressions of sadness, which was understandable as he was thinking about her in that moment throughout his speech. However, he was able to keep calm and level-headed.”

King Charles made a ‘terrible mistake’ with Archie and Lili, according to one expert

When Harry and Meghan’s kids were born, Queen Elizabeth was still the reigning monarch. However, once she died, Charles had a decision to make: He could either give Harry and Meghan’s children royal titles or not. Ultimately, Charles decided that Archie and Lili were worthy of titles, and they’re now prince and princess, respectively. However, it’s no secret that Charles isn’t exactly close with his grandchildren, and one royal expert seems to think the titles were a “terrible mistake” for the royal family.

“Harry and Meghan have undermined the monarchy, and Charles has made a terrible mistake,” royal author Tom Bower told Express. “He should have cut them off straight away. He should never have allowed their children to be made a prince and princess.”

The assumption is that since Archie and Lili are prince and princess, Harry and Meghan will always be attached to the royal family regardless of the chaos and tension that ensues between the two sides of royalty. Of course, even if Harry and Meghan didn’t have kids, Harry would still be a prince, and the two of them would still be duke and duchess, so perhaps it’s doesn’t make any real difference.

Will Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet ever become working royals?

It’s unlikely that Archie and Lili will ever step into working royal roles, but it’s not completely impossible. They’re the grandchildren of the king, just like Prince William and Kate Middleton’s kids. And while they couldn’t be working royals until they’re 18 at the earliest, there is a small chance that the kids could grow close to their cousins — and that Prince George could eventually allow them to be working royals when he is king, if the monarchy were stretched too thin.

But the bottom line is that Archie and Lili will most likely never work for the royal family, although now that they’ve received those titles, they are entitled to them for life. At most, they could grow close with the family and play a role similar to that of William’s cousins, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

All eyes were on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry at the ESPY Awards, as the duke received the Pat Tillman Award for Service for his work with the Invictus Games. Harry was decked out in a black suit and tie with a white shirt, but it was Meghan who had all eyes on her as she copycatted a very royal moment in a slinky white dress.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were photographed as they sat in their seats at the yearly award event. The couple celebrated Harry’s award alongside notable figures in the sports world.

However, Meghan’s look was very familiar to royal watchers. She appeared to have worn the same style of dress previously during a key royal moment.

People Magazine reports Meghan wore a custom white halter gown by Oscar de la Renta paired with black strappy sandals. The slinky gown was fitted to her body and looked strikingly like the dress she wore for her 2018 wedding reception.

Meghan donned a custom Givenchy wedding dress for her wedding ceremony to Harry. However, when it was time for their wedding reception, she changed into a formfitting white halter dress with an open back, which Stella McCartney had designed.

The McCartney and de la Renta dresses had the same halter-style neckline. The dress was cut close to the body, exposing Meghan’s toned shoulders and upper body.

Makeup artist and longtime Meghan Markle friend Daniel Martin posted an image of Prince Harry and his wife at the sports awards show on Instagram. He captioned it: “ESPYS with my besties! Congratulations, buddy, on your Pat Tillman Award for Service. Makeup by yours truly.”

Martin created Meghan’s wedding look in 2018. He subsequently told Harper’s Bazaar that Meghan liked a “shimmery” look.

Meghan’s hair was styled in the same manner as her wedding day. However, instead of some face-framing tendrils, her tresses were swept back into a low bun.

Meghan Markle wore some of her favorite jewelry pieces to complete her sleek ESPY Awards look. Royal watchers may have seen some of these elegant accessories before.

According to the website What Meghan Wore, the Duchess of Sussex kept her jewelry to a minimum. However, all her accessories were meaningful and greatly impacted her overall look.

Meghan wore a favorite pair of Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings on her ears. Consequently, she first wore the emerald diamond stud earrings at 2019’s Trooping the Color and later, at the Lion King premiere in London that same year.

She wore a large, abstract ring from Rodi. The brand’s Cassandra style has three interconnecting 18K gold loops and a diamond loop. On her left hand was her engagement ring and wedding band from Prince Harry.

The only other piece of jewelry Meghan wore was a Cartier love bracelet. The simple gold accessory is known for locking on the wrist with a screw.

Prince Harry‘s Spare was a blockbuster tell-all about the royal family. The Duke of Sussex left no stone unturned while revealing intimate details about the House of Windsor. Now, Harry is reportedly waiting to unleash an explosive addition to the book, says a royal commentator. The question is when he will do it and what is left for him to say?

Will Prince Harry unleash more royal secrets in a ‘Spare’ sequel?

Daniela Elser of News.com.au discussed a story published by The Spectator, which she says makes a “very good point.” It reads, “It has been rumored that [Harry] and his ghostwriter have been waiting to include new and sensational material to galvanize sales to those who live for the scandal and outrage,” Elser writes.

The royal commentator notes that since its first hit bookshelves, Spare has never been released in paperback. She wonders if Harry plans to expose more royal secrets in this rumored, updated edition.

“Imagine a new and updated issue of the memoir. Only this time one that offers the duke’s no-holds-barred take on King Charles’ coronation, Queen Camilla, his and wife Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex’s eviction from Frogmore Cottage, and His Majesty and Kate, the Princess of Wales’ cancer diagnosis,” she wrote.

“Only this time, it would be written by a Harry who knows that his father is often too busy to see him when he makes the trip back to London. And now has pretty much nothing left to lose in terms of Crown Inc. “

“An updated, paperback issue of Spare would have to sell like the most singing of hotcakes. The ‘buy’ button on Amazon would be hit so many times that they would need to install a new one,” she concludes.

Why would Prince Harry update ‘Spare?’

Daniela Elser believes that updating Spare would make financial sense for Prince Harry. She believes the prince’s options regarding work have “narrowed.”

“Podcasting is out, with him having only managed to help produce half of one 30-minute episode in two and a half years. Spotify sources revealed to journalists the harebrained ideas the duke had for shows like interviewing Vladimir Putin about his childhood,” Elser writes.

She continued, “Meanwhile, Harry’s tele career is now down to him making a series about horsey sport. All that talk about an African doco suddenly having gone very quiet, and helping co-produce an adaptation of a beachy romance read. Reports have suggested that Netflix might not extend the Sussexes’ contract when it runs out next year. The bottom line is his options for pulling in the megabucks are looking increasingly limited.”

A paperback version of Spare would contain previously unreleased material, put the duke in the news again, and generate the income Harry needs to support his family’s lifestyle in Montecito, California.

In updating ‘Spare,’ Harry follows a precedent set by Princess Diana

While it has not been officially determined if Prince Harry will update Spare for a future paperback edition of the tell-all, he wouldn’t be the first royal to have additional updated information added to an existing tell-all book. His mother, Princess Diana, shared enough material with Andrew Morton to warrant an updated version of Diana: Her True Story.

The original version of the book was released in June 1992. It contained tapes Diana recorded and relayed to Morton via Dr. James Colthurst, her friend and middleman.

In Diana: Her True Story, the late Princess of Wales pulled back the curtain on her life. She detailed her marriage to and break up with then-Prince Charles. She discussed, at length, her emotional response to his long-time affair with Camilla Parker Bowles.

After Princess Diana’s 1997 death, Andrew Morton released an updated version of the book. Titled Diana: Her True Story in Her Own Words, Morton confirmed Diana was involved in the writing of the book. It contained an 18,000-word transcript of the tapes Diana recorded and passed along to Morton.

Prince Harry has not confirmed if he plans on updating the content written in Spare.

Beatrice and Eugenie Are ‘Nowhere Near as Close as They Once Were’ to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

It seems Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie have drifted apart from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The York sisters reportedly haven’t spoken to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in “quite a while.” However, a commentator says that doesn’t mean they aren’t still on friendly terms.

Eugenie and Beatrice haven’t talked to Harry and Meghan in ‘quite a while’

It’s been some time since Harry and Meghan have spoken to Beatrice and Eugenie, a source told O K. The 35 and 34-year-old “haven’t communicated” with the California-based royals “for quite a while now,” they said. “They are nowhere near as close as they once were.”

Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, are the only British royals to have visited Harry and Meghan in Montecito, California. Eugenie and Harry, who have long been close, and whom Meghan knew before she started dating Harry in 2016, even went to the Super Bowl with Harry in 2022.

These days, though, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s daughters are focused on matters closer to home. “Beatrice and Eugenie have firmly pledged their allegiance to the royal family,” the insider said.

The York sisters are still friendly with the Sussexes

That doesn’t mean, however, that they’ve stopped talking to Harry and Meghan completely. Beatrice and Eugenie are believed to still be friendly with the pair.

The younger York sister and her husband are said to be “very careful about what they say to friends” regarding the duke and duchess. Why? “Because they don’t want to be seen as badmouthing Harry or Meghan.”

“There’s still a friendship there,” the insider said. “But it’s not like the close family bond they had before Harry moved to America.”

According to Tom Quinn, a royal author and commentator, Beatrice and Eugenie “have far more in common with Harry and Meghan than with any other part of the family.”

Meanwhile, commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said a friendship could—and does—exist within the ongoing royal family rift. “It is perfectly possible to be involved in a deep, public family rift and be on amiable terms with all involved,” he said, using Eugenie as an example. (via O K.)

While the York sisters have drifted apart from Harry and Meghan, a source told OK they’ve gotten closer with Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The Princess of Wales’ cancer diagnosis “changed Prince William’s relationship with Beatrice and Eugenie.”

Kate is on a break from royal duties as she undergoes a “few” more months of preventative chemotherapy. Meanwhile, her father-in-law, King Charles III, is continuing his own cancer treatment after being diagnosed in February 2024.

Because of the slimmed-down monarchy, Beatrice and Eugenie are “very willing to step up and do more at this current time to help.”

“They’re very fond of their cousin [William] and their uncle [Charles]. And they want to do everything they can to support them. And they believe in the institution they grew up in.”

“Bea and Eugenie can’t imagine what William is going through right now, and it was an honor for them to give him some support” at a May 2024 Buckingham Palace garden party, they added. “The York sisters were determined not to let him down.”

Apparently, there’s a pretty simple “way out” of all the ESPY award drama for Prince Harry. A commentator says the Duke of Sussex can sidestep the controversy surrounding his being named the 2024 recipient of the Pat Tillman Award for Service. How exactly? By using his acceptance speech to showcase someone else.

Harry’s ‘stunned’ by the Pat Tillman Award for Service backlash

ESPN is honoring Harry at the 2024 ESPY Awards on July 11, 2024. He’ll receive the Pat Tillman Award for Service for his work with the Invictus Games. Harry founded the sporting competition for wounded veterans in 2014.

Named after the late NFL player who left professional sports to enlist in the military and later died in combat, the award spotlights Tillman’s legacy and someone who has used sports to positively impact others.

The backlash started almost immediately after ESPN announced Harry would be receiving the award. Tillman’s mother, Mary Tillman, expressed her unhappiness, describing Harry as a “controversial and divisive individual” to the Daily Mail.

Others have since criticized ESPN. The organization issued a statement on the matter, standing by its decision to give Harry the award.

All of it has, as a source told the Telegraph, left Harry feeling “stunned.” The fallout, they claimed, has been a “bitter pill to swallow” for Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, whose close friend, Serena Williams, is hosting the ESPYs.

“Harry’s legacy on Invictus, the things he has achieved, that’s his real passion,” the insider said. They also likened the drama to what happened in January 2024 when the duke was inducted into the Living Legends of Aviation Hall of Fame.

“This is the space in which he truly feels at home. It is something he deeply cares about. The reaction certainly took the shine off the award.”

An option for Harry is to dedicate the award to an ‘unsung hero’

On the July 9 episode of the “Royal Report” podcast, host and royal correspondent Jack Royston suggested a way “out” of the controversy for Harry. While he said it’s likely too late to decline the award—the ceremony’s on July 11, 2024, in California—Harry still has options left.

Royston told listeners that the duke could make his acceptance speech about the Invictus Games and the veterans who participate in the competition, which he founded in 2014.

Harry’s attendance at the ESPYs hasn’t been confirmed, meaning he could go to the awards show in person or accept the honor in a pre-recorded video.

“What he could do is actually try to dedicate it to an unsung hero,” he said (via Newsweek). “Perhaps a member of the U.S. Invictus team who he feels deserves the honor?”

“He could use his speech to just shine a spotlight on that person and all the incredible things they’ve done, which he could explain and describe in his speech and really actually dedicate this award to them.”

Another is for Harry to bring them to ESPYs and hand over the award on stage

The commentator continued. He suggested Harry could take it a step further by having the person there. That way, he could “physically give” them the award.

“I think at this stage, that’s probably the best way out for him,” Royston said. “And you know, if he were to pitch this to ESPN, it might work for them too. Because, you know, they’re a bit under the cosh [pressure] as well.”

Harry would “ideally” say in his speech, “‘Look, I’m really so grateful to ESPN and to the ESPYs for giving me this award. And wanting to shine a spotlight on Invictus because it’s an important project.’”

“‘But really, Invictus has always been about the veterans who serve. It’s never been about me; it’s never been about a royal family member getting all of the attention.”

“‘It’s always been about putting the attention on the people who matter, which is the competitors. And, the spirit of Invictus is about them and their struggle and battle to not be defeated by their injuries.’

“If he could do that, he could try and turn this back around into a positive.” It would mean “he’s kind of sacrificing himself in order to actually pick the person who maybe should have got it to begin with,” Royston concluded.

The ESPYs will be broadcast live on ABC on July 11, 2024, at 8 p.m. EDT/PDT.

What Prince Harry Could Do if He Really Wanted to Support Sister-in-Law Kate, According to an Expert

When the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton) revealed her shocking cancer diagnosis to the world, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle learned the way the rest of the public did, via the princess’s video message.

Following Kate’s announcement, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex released a brief statement that read: “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace.”

Since then, there have been rumblings out of Harry’s camp that he is very upset about his sister-in-law’s diagnosis and wants to support her during this time. However, a royal expert is saying that they should pump the brakes on that talk because if Harry really wanted to support Kate he could, but he hasn’t.

Royal author says ‘it speaks volumes’ that Harry hasn’t made this effort for Kate

Royal expert and author of Royally Suited Phil Dampier spoke to The Sun’s Fabulous about what Prince Harry could do if he wanted to support Kate and the fact that he hasn’t “speaks volumes.”

Dampier explained: “As the Princess of Wales has been recovering from cancer we have heard precious little in terms of public support from Harry and Meghan. It may be that they have made contact privately but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

“If there was a willingness by Harry to support Kate, and of course William, he could have made a move to apologize for some of his outbursts and made the effort to come over and spend some time with them. But the fact he hasn’t speaks volumes.”

The author added: “The trust between all parties has long since gone and I don’t see any chance of a reconciliation in the near future. William and Kate must feel deeply hurt by what Harry has done and whatever his past grievances, there was no excuse for turning them into a money-making industry.”

The Waleses’ friends say Will and Kate haven’t spoken to Harry and aren’t dwelling on it

Friends of the Waleses have said that William and Kate haven’t talked to Harry in quite some time and they aren’t dwelling on that as they have other things to worry about.

As for getting a visit from the Duke of Sussex, that isn’t something his brother and sister-in-law seem open to these days. Those close to the Waleses insist that Harry popping up and dropping by is the last thing they want because it would bring nothing but “unwanted drama” and that is exactly what the prince and princess don’t want or need now.

One of the Waleses’ pals told the Daily Beast: “Catherine and William have been very clear they want peace and quiet for them and the kids. A visit from Harry, with all the drama that would bring, would be the opposite of that.”

Three days after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot, the pair attended their first event as a married couple, and what went on that day has been discussed at length by royal watchers and decoded by lip readers.

On May 22, 2018, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the 70th Birthday Garden Party at Buckingham Palace for then-Prince Charles. Harry paid tribute to his father during the celebration honoring Charles’ work with his charities and patronages.

A royal author has claimed that there was some “tension” though with Meghan that day and has shared how Harry reacted at the party when his wife told him she wanted to leave because she was “bored.”

Harry and Meghan postponed their honeymoon to attend the affair which saw the duchess don a blush “Flavia” pencil dress featuring a tailored bodice with silk-chiffon sleeves. She added a custom Philip Treacy hat, nude tights, and matching pumps. The former Suits star and her husband interacted with several people before they exited the party. But whether they were asked to leave or did so on their own has been debated for years.

Express noted that royal commentator Lady Colin Campbell, who penned Meghan and Harry: The Real Story, said there was tension in the air during the celebration because Meghan was “bored” and didn’t want to be there for too long.

According to Campbell’s book, “Fifteen minutes into the event, she turned to Harry and said, ‘Harry, this is really boring. Let’s leave.'”

The author added that the duke stood his ground and replied that they were going to stay, writing: “To his credit, he informed her that they would have to stay. ‘But Harry,’ she said, ‘This is so boring. We’ve done our bit. Everyone knows we’ve been here. Let’s go.’ Harry asserted that they had to stay, and they moved on.”

While the Sussexes continued to speak with several guests, a royal staff member approached the prince to tell him his father wanted a quick word with him. Soon after Harry and Meghan were seen exiting the party, which led to speculation that they were asked to leave.

But a professional lip reader explained that was not the case and shared that now-King Charles let Harry know they were about to depart.

The Daily Mail‘s lip-reading expert shared that Charles said to Harry: “We are going now. We have to leave,” to which Harry replied: “You go ahead.”

The king then told his son: “We will go now, see you later,” and Harry replied: “Yes, catch up after.”

But even after the couple’s explosive sit-down with Oprah Winfrey, jabs at the monarchy in other interviews, their Netflix docuseries, and Harry’s memoir Spare, the prince’s cousins, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, remained close with the Sussexes.

In fact, Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, visited the prince and Suits star at their home in California. And the princess was featured briefly in the Harry &Meghan docuseries. But now, it’s being reported that the duke and duchess’s only allies in the royal family are no more. Read on to find out why.

Why Beatrice and Eugenie haven’t been speaking to Harry and Meghan

So what happened? Why aren’t the princesses close with the Sussexes anymore? Well, according to a source who spoke to Express, it has to do with comments Beatrice and Eugenie’s mother, Sarah Ferguson, made about not knowing Meghan.

In an interview with The Telegraph, the Duchess of York denied knowing Harry’s wife saying: “I don’t really know Meghan. I haven’t really met her.”

However, the insider claimed that’s not the case and something Sarah said in an effort to distance herself from the Sussexes.

“They were neighbors. Royal Lodge is basically next door to Frogmore and the Yorks and Sussexes met quite often,” the source explained. “Sarah taught Meghan how to curtsy and there have been other meetings. Both Harry and Meghan were quite surprised by Sarah’s comments and couldn’t understand why she would distance herself like that. It has caused a bit of distance between the families.”

The princesses have aligned themselves with the royal family now

The publication’s insider added that since then Beatrice and Eugenie have become distant, sharing: “They haven’t communicated with the Sussexes for quite a while now. They are nowhere near as close as they once were.”

There have been signs that the York sisters pulled back from the Sussexes and aligned themselves with the monarchy again with the source insisting: “Beatrice and Eugenie have firmly pledged their allegiance to the royal family.”

That was evident when the princesses opted not to attend a service in London with Harry to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.

Moreover, it’s been reported that during a recent trip to Los Angeles, Eugenie did not contact her cousin or his wife about getting together. And she recently posted about attending Prince William’s Garden Party and announced her public support for the family on Instagram writing: “Come rain or shine, I was delighted to support my family yesterday to meet some special individuals at the Buckingham Palace Garden Party who have gone above and beyond to support their local communities and the country.”
