Harry and Meghan decided back in 2019 that they were going to transition out of the royal family. The two spent six weeks in Canada over the holiday season with their son, Prince Archie, and when they arrived back, they announced their plans to build a different kind of life in the United States. Since then, neither has fully found their footing; Meghan had a Spotify deal go bad, and Harry has focused on his Invictus Games but has not done much in the way of true business ventures. And one royal expert recently commented on how “tough” Harry’s “sacrifice” must have been.

“I think we can say that it must be tough for Harry to have lost touch with virtually all his old circle of friends as well as his family,” royal expert Jennie Bond told Ok! Magazine UK, via Express. “But we must assume that he feels that sacrifice is worth it for the life he now has with the woman he loves and the children he adores.”

Still, not everyone agrees. Express also reports that royal expert Tom Quinn says Harry is “bored” and has lost those friends — including military pals and school friends — because “Meghan is difficult.”

Harry and Meghan have had a mixed bag of good and bad ever since settling down in Montecito, California. Meghan is currently in the midst of filming a cooking show while also launching a lifestyle brand called American Riviera Orchard. But Meghan does have experience in the lifestyle space, having had her blog The Tig prior to joining the royal family, so the duchess is certainly getting involved again in something she’s good at.

The Duchess of Sussex faced scrutiny in 2023 when it was announced that her podcast, Archetypes, was not renewed beyond its first series of episodes. Meghan and Spotify parted ways after the company said the podcast didn’t perform as expected. Since then, Meghan has re-signed with Lemonada Media — but that isn’t all she’s done. Earlier this year, Meghan announced a new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, as well as a new cooking show on Netflix. But one insider claims the duchess is feeling “pressure” to succeed.

According to Express, an inside source told Closer Magazine that things are “tense” at home as Meghan prepares to launch yet another new business venture. “You can just imagine the kind of pressure it’s putting on her and, by extension, Harry,” the source said. “If this show flops it will be a total disaster, and she knows it. She’s on tenterhooks waiting for it to come out and the stress it’s causing her is being felt by everyone around her, especially Harry.”

It seems that the cooking show, which does not have a name or release date, is coming out in tandem with Meghan’s new brand, but the lack of details is only causing concern as to how the show will perform.

Meghan Markle knows she has to find a niche and stick with it

Meghan is no stranger to lifestyle brands; she had her blog, The Tig, which was supposedly quite successful, prior to meeting Harry. She closed down the blog after she and Harry became engaged, but it’s no surprise that she’s remained interested in the lifestyle space. It seems she does have the means to launch a successful home and life brand.

With that said, it almost has to work. After the Spotify situation and the general controversy surrounding Meghan and Harry’s royal exit, Meghan needs to find her footing if she wants to be taken seriously as a celebrity. It’s certainly possible, as long as the new brand presents itself as relatable — but time will tell.

We can’t say we didn’t see this coming. Back in 2020, Harry left the royal family, and things with him and the Wales couple have never been the same. But earlier this year, William and Kate experienced their own massive struggle when Kate was diagnosed with cancer. As a result, the two had to make Kate’s health even more of a priority, and with little progress being made in their relationship with Harry, an insider claims the couple has decided to “consciously” focus on positivity rather than Harry.

“William and Kate are very consciously focusing on positivity and recovery,” a source told OK! Magazine (via Mirror), rather than focusing on the negative energy that is their relationship with Harry.

Ingrid Seward, a royal expert who has covered William and Harry for years, told Mirror, “[William’s] relationship with brother Harry upset him more than he would care to admit. But he found it easier to cut ties rather than allow himself to be continually annoyed.”

William has not seen his brother in ages. Harry made a quick trip to the UK in both February and May, and the two brothers did not get together either time.

In recent years, William and Kate have put a greater emphasis on their family. Things haven’t been so smooth for Harry and Meghan since the two relocated from the United Kingdom to the United States. The two have launched their own business ventures and have succeeded in their own projects, but they can’t seem to shake their royal reputations.

Beyond that, Harry recently faced criticism after he was announced as the winner of the Pat Tillman award, which he accepted at this year’s ESPYs for his work on the Invictus Games. But Tillman’s own mother, Mary Tillman, disagreed with the decision to give Harry the award — and vocalized it. “I am shocked as to why they would select such a controversial and divisive individual to receive the award,” she told Daily Mail.

Former royal butler Grant Harrold told the New York Post that he thinks Harry and Meghan are doing their best to ignore the haters. “I’m sure they’ll be drowning out the outside noise by continuing with their normal and everyday life and trying not to turn on the television, or read the papers as much,” he said. Harrold even suspected Harry might decline the award, — which he did not end up doing — and added that Harry is likely “feeling quite sad” about the backlash.

The Pat Tillman award is named after Pat Tillman, a former NFL player who enlisted in the military after the September 11 attacks and was ultimately killed in friendly fire overseas in 2004. When Harry and Meghan’s kids were born, Queen Elizabeth was still the reigning monarch. However, once she died, Charles had a decision to make: He could either give Harry and Meghan’s children royal titles or not. Ultimately, Charles decided that Archie and Lili were worthy of titles, and they’re now prince and princess, respectively. However, it’s no secret that Charles isn’t exactly close with his grandchildren, and one royal expert seems to think the titles were a “terrible mistake” for the royal family.

“Harry and Meghan have undermined the monarchy, and Charles has made a terrible mistake,” royal author Tom Bower told Express. “He should have cut them off straight away. He should never have allowed their children to be made a prince and princess.”

The assumption is that since Archie and Lili are prince and princess, Harry and Meghan will always be attached to the royal family regardless of the chaos and tension that ensues between the two sides of royalty. Of course, even if Harry and Meghan didn’t have kids, Harry would still be a prince, and the two of them would still be duke and duchess, so perhaps it’s doesn’t make any real difference.

Will Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet ever become working royals?

It’s unlikely that Archie and Lili will ever step into working royal roles, but it’s not completely impossible. They’re the grandchildren of the king, just like Prince William and Kate Middleton’s kids. And while they couldn’t be working royals until they’re 18 at the earliest, there is a small chance that the kids could grow close to their cousins — and that Prince George could eventually allow them to be working royals when he is king, if the monarchy were stretched too thin.

But the bottom line is that Archie and Lili will most likely never work for the royal family, although now that they’ve received those titles, they are entitled to them for life. At most, they could grow close with the family and play a role similar to that of William’s cousins, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

However, rumor has it Meghan could lean on Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, two royals she has remained close with, to help promote her new brand. Ok! Magazine reports that a source close to the duchess said that “Meghan is looking for support wherever she can get it” and even added that “Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice are at the top of her list.” Eugenie has visited Meghan and Harry in California, and it’s possible they could want to help Meghan build up her business.

Meghan is most likely to get those two to support her brand, but the source claims she also wants King Charles’ seal of approval — though it’s hard to believe that part is true.

Meghan has been doing some serious marketing for her new lifestyle brand. She launched the Instagram account back in early spring but has not posted to it since, which actually drums up quite a bit of noise given that people will continue checking back to see if she has shared content. American Riviera Orchard does not have an official launch date, but the brand is still buzzing. Meghan’s new line of products doesn’t have an exact launch date, but fans have been eagerly anticipating the new venture. She has also sent samples to a number of high-profile celebrities who have shared the products on social media.

Still, despite that there have been some health issues within the family, William reportedly never wants to see his brother return to royal duties.

According to The Daily Beast, an insider claims that William doesn’t want anything to do with the idea of Harry returning to royal duties, and that William has much more control over the royal family’s decisions than was previously thought. “[It] tells you everything you need to know about who is really in charge,” the source said of William’s unwillingness to let Harry back into the family — and Harry keeping his distance.

Prince Harry likely won’t return to the United Kingdom for a while

When Harry said in his early 2024 interview that he loves his family, he also said that he had a number of trips planned that would bring him back through the United Kingdom. Since then, Harry has only made one stop in the UK, and it wasn’t to see his family; it was to attend a ceremony for his Invictus Games. He did not see Charles or William during that time, and he has not been back since May.

It seems that, no matter what the public wants to believe, Harry isn’t itching to get back to the UK and likely won’t work through his problems with his father and brother if he’s never there. Paul Burrell, who is Princess Diana’s former butler and previously worked with William and Harry, told Closer Magazine (via Express), “Make no mistake, William is keeping Kate and his family well away from Meghan and Harry. The door of Adelaide Cottage is shut — and there is no way in for Harry and Meghan. William knows that Harry can’t be trusted and doesn’t want any more upset in his family.”

Burrell also made the comment about William seeing Harry and Meghan as “background noise,” which makes sense given that William is fully focused on two things: His wife’s health, and preparing to become king.

In a perfect world, Harry and William would become best friends, and the royal family would live happily ever after. However, the two brothers have not been close in years, and despite a number of situations offering a chance for them to repair their relationship, it has been to no avail.

Prince Philip died in 2021, opening the door for Harry and William to have a sit-down and work through their issues. However, they did try, but it was unsuccessful. Since then, the public thought Queen Elizabeth II’s death would bring them all closer, but it didn’t. And in 2024, King Charles and Kate Middleton were both diagnosed with cancer, creating even more of a chance for the brothers to set aside their differences, but they couldn’t or didn’t want to.

It remains to be seen whether Harry and William will reach a point where they get close again, but with so many chances over the last few years and nothing coming to fruition, it’s hard to imagine they will.

Still, Harry’s connection to the royal family will always exist, and according to one royal expert, the prince could make a major move after his brother takes the throne.

Royal expert predicts Prince Harry will write another book after King Charles dies

Harry released his memoir, “Spare,” back in January 2023. It made plenty of noise, and Harry made plenty of money from telling his story. The book was published a few months after Queen Elizabeth II died, and Harry even claimed at the time that he had enough content to write two books.

But that claim has one royal expert thinking that Harry isn’t kidding about eventually coming out with a second book — but that he wouldn’t do it until after his brother took the throne, likely so as to not disappoint his father. According to Express, expert Kinsey Schofield said on her “Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered” series, “I do think he would write about his family again. He was waiting to publish a book after [Queen Elizabeth died]. Originally, they were saying there was going to be another publication after the [late] Queen died.”

Schofield thinks that Harry wouldn’t have anything to lose if he published another book after his father died because it seems that he and his brother won’t ever be on great terms. “I suspect that maybe he would release a book after his father passed away,” she said. “Especially if Prince William continues to keep him at arm’s length. Because what would the repercussions be if Prince William pushed you out of the fold?”

Lately, there have even been rumors flying that Charles could make a stopover in California at some point this year, though nothing has been confirmed.
